The website i deisgned - “Guardian of the Reef” is an impactful campaign that goes beyond advertising to shine a light on climate change, using gamification and engagement to reward and educate travellers to protect the Great Barrier Reef.

The website i deisgned - “Guardian of the Reef” is an impactful campaign that goes beyond advertising to shine a light on climate change, using gamification and engagement to reward and educate travellers to protect the Great Barrier Reef.

The concept behind the website is that as users scroll down, it feels like they’re diving deeper into the ocean — with the background colour gradually shifting to deeper tones to reflect this.
To boost engagement with the written and video content, I proposed a gamified experience:
1. Users could unlock Expedia coupons for hotels and activities after fully reading or watching.
2. The idea was supported by the wider team, so we implemented it as part of the final experience.

At the media event there was fantastic turn out by leading journalists/publications including Fathom, NBC’s California Live, and freelancers from Travel + Leisure, Condé Nast Traveler, TravelAge West and they were very complementary about the platform and the user experience.
